How to Make Your Matcha
Four Steps to Your Perfect Cup
Ground
Center yourself in the present moment and direct your attention to the items before you: water heated to 180°F, matcha, a whisking bowl, sifter, scoop, whisk, and whisk stand.
Sift
Measure out one teaspoon of matcha with your scoop and sift it into the whisking bowl. Gently press any remaining powder through the sifter with the scoop, then pour two ounces of 180°F water into the bowl over the sifted matcha.
Wisk
Using a bamboo whisk, briskly whisk the matcha and water to create froth. Keep whisking until the matcha has fully dissolved and the mixture is free of clumps, at which point a light layer of froth should form on the surface.
Pour
Transfer your whisked matcha into a cup or mug containing six ounces of 180°F water—or your favorite warm or cold milk—then sip and savor every moment.
